On a serene autumn night in September, Hong Kong's Kai Tak Cruise Terminal transformed into a stage, offering panoramic views of the city skyline. The shimmering water and dazzling night lights intertwined, setting the scene for the unveiling of the Hermès Men's Winter 2025 collection. Véronique Nichanian, Artistic Director of Hermès Men's Universe, created a unique new look for this Hong Kong fashion show, exploring the aesthetics of equestrian attire.
Front and back, inside and out, hidden and revealed—simple diagonal lines intersect throughout the entire collection, with imagery transforming and shifting in an instant. Classic elements of equestrian attire are reinterpreted in striking shades of vanilla, blood orange, and porcelain blue, weaving together a colorful diagonal pattern that eloquently expresses Hermès' equestrian spirit. Flowing, lightweight fabrics and sharply defined patterns complement each other, creating a striking contrast. Elegant and simple designs meet sharp, three-dimensional lines, outlining silhouettes of remarkable architectural beauty.
Amidst the sloping concrete structures, a host of Hong Kong celebrities and models moved freely, infusing the stage with a dynamic energy. Smooth velvet and matte calfskin shimmered under the soft lighting, like twinkling stars. Blanket-textured parkas exuded warmth, while newly interpreted equestrian-style geometric patterns offered endless surprises and anticipation.
Diagonal lines crisscross the ground, and the linear elements of the riders' colorful attire permeate the entire space. Earth tones such as coffee brown, slate gray, and charcoal gray are subtly integrated into the architecture, creating a sense of harmony within the urban landscape. The cool concrete contrasts with the warm colors, and beams of light cascade from above, interacting with the slanted concrete columns to create a dance of light and structure.
